Petiquette is a 3 part approach to manners:
1. Making your dog more comfortable
2. Making those around you more comfortable
3. Practicing responsible ownership
A structured walk that helps dogs that are leash reactive or frustrated greeters!
Class registration includes:
-1 x 60 minute video meeting with your trainer and all the other participants to learn what to do when your dog sees a trigger in the distance, what equipment you will need, and what to prepare for the next week.
-4 x 30 minute structured walks (1 per week) to practice your Petiquette skills and receive coaching and feedback.
-Access to the Facebook group of local dog owners who are also working on the same training to help grow your community of support.
Your dog will learn:
-That when new people/dogs/bikes/cars are around, good things happen!
Once your dog is more comfortable, others around you will be more comfortable too!
You’ll learn how to:
-Keep people from approaching your dog
-Put distance between you and your dog’s triggers, and
-Let people know that your dog is in training, and needs more space.
The third component is responsible dog ownership. There is some homework for the owners… but it’s worth it! You will learn about the dog laws in your community, and best practices for preventing problems.
Locations for the 30 minute walks will be outdoors, in the Petawawa area, and have parking near the meetup spot. A map will be provided to you before the first class.
The first date is a 1 hour Zoom call for all of the humans to know what to do on the walk, and the following 4 dates are each a 30-minute walk in the Petawawa area. Please dress according to the weather.
*In the case of bad weather or COVID-19 restrictions, dates will be rescheduled.
I look forward to meeting your and your dog!
Dates for the next Petiquette class are:
11am Saturday March 27, April 3, April 10, April 17, and April 24, 2021.
$125 per dog. More than one family member can participate at no extra cost.
